Affording Blue Oak School

Blue Oak School is an investment in your child’s future and requires careful financial planning. The School is dedicated to helping applicants find the resources they need to afford an education at Blue Oak School.

The purpose of financial aid is to assist families who would not otherwise have the resources to attend Blue Oak School. The School’s generous need-based financial assistance program supports our mission to provide the best educational environment to children of diverse backgrounds and interests. From its inception, the School has been dedicated to building a student body that accurately reflects the population of the Napa Valley and its surrounding areas. More than 35% of Blue Oak School students receive financial aid, a figure twice the national average.

Applying for Financial Aid

Blue Oak School is a member of the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS), a service of the National Association of Independent Schools. SSS assists independent schools in determining a family’s financial need. Parents must submit a Parent’s Financial Statement (PFS) by the published deadlines in order to be considered for financial aid. All financial aid is based on financial need; need is based on the income and assets of both parents. Both parents must complete the PFS forms regardless of marital status. We strongly recommend that you make a copy of the completed forms for your records.

PFS forms are available at both our Lower and Middle School campuses and can be picked up at enrollment information meetings, schools tours or open house programs. You may request a form by calling the Admission Office at 707.261.4500.

PFS forms are also available online at www.nais.org/financialaid/sss. Completing the PFS form online is the fastest way to apply.

A copy of the applicant’s most recent federal tax return must be submitted to SSS by NAIS in order for a financial grant to be finalized.  All grants are for one year; grants must be reapplied for each year by all parents.  Please see the Financial Aid Handout for more information.

Questions about the financial aid process at Blue Oak School may be directed to Christopher Bezsylko, Director of Admission at 707.261.4500 or .

Questions about the completion of PFS forms may be directed to the SSS Financial Aid Helpline at 866.387.2601.
