Annual Benefit Auction

Beneath the Canopy, "Foundation to Future"

Seventh Annual Auction to Benefit Blue Oak School

Over the last ten years, many people have worked hard to create a strong foundation upon which Blue Oak School has grown and flourished.  We have built a community of faculty, staff, students and parents who work together to make our school what it is, an amazing place of support, curiosity and learning for our children.  Our goal for the future is to strengthen Blue Oak School's position as an educational beacon and to continue to prepare our children to take their place in our ever changing world.

The theme of this year's auction, "Foundation to Future", is a celebration of all of the individuals that have contributed to our achievements since Blue Oak School's inception in 1998 and of our vision for the future.  As part of that celebration, we are pleased to announce that the Blue Oak School founders, Lisa Cort and David Goldman and Barry and Tracy Schuler, will be honored for their dedication and vision during the past twelve years.

We are happy to announce the location and time of this year's event:

Silver Oak Cellars
Saturday May 1, 2010 at 6:00pm

Auctioneer Fritz Hatton will lead the bidding on thirty exciting, unique live auction lots after attendees stroll through an amazing array of silent auction offerings.  Dinner will be prepared by Blue Oak dad Todd Humphries, Executive Chef and Co-Owner of Martini House restaurant in St. Helena.  Auction lots include one of a kind experiences, collectable wines and unique destination travel packages.  Tickets are $100 each until April 15, after which they increase to $125 each.

To order tickets, click here, or call 707.261.4591.

Funds raised through Beneath the Canopy help sustain the School’s program and vision established as a community, including these Mission-aligned features:

  • An inquiry-based liberal arts program that integrates art, music, drama, Spanish, physical education, experiential learning, community service and environmental studies into core curricular concepts while inspiring creativity and responsibility
  • Highly qualified and dedicated faculty who foster curiosity, critical thinking skills and a life-long love of learning
  • Class sizes that are small and student-centered, allowing each child to have individualized and differentiated instruction

Auction revenue also supports the School’s commitment to diversity by providing resources for a generous need-based financial aid program.  By educating children in an environment that embodies the richness and variety of our world, they receive the tools they need to be thoughtful and tolerant citizens. A remarkable 35% of Blue Oak School families receive financial assistance, twice the national average for independent schools. It is one of the elements that make Blue Oak School exceptional; and without the dollars raised at the annual auction, it would not be possible.

The participation of everyone in the Blue Oak School community, as well as those in the broader community, is integral to the success of Beneath the Canopy each year. There are many ways to get involved – as a volunteer, donor, sponsor or bidder – and we encourage everyone to consider how they can best contribute to this important fundraiser.
