T his not-to-be-missed event offers an opportunity for Blue Oak School parents, friends and members of the wider community to bid on one-of-a-kind auction lots that include collectible wines, exclusive winemaker dinners and exceptional destination packages. Set against the beauty of the Napa Valley and featuring the food and wine that make this region famous, Beneath the Canopy is a fun and exciting weekend that fulfills an important fundraising need for Blue Oak School.
Funds raised through Beneath the Canopy help sustain the School’s innovative, liberal arts program and ensure that Blue Oak School continues as a place where children develop a spirit of inquiry, a passion for learning and habits of mind that endure. Auction revenue also supports the School’s commitment to diversity by providing resources for a generous need-based financial aid program. From its beginning, Blue Oak School has striven to build a student body that accurately reflects the population of the Napa Valley and its environs. By educating children in an environment that embodies the richness and variety of our world, they receive the tools they need to be thoughtful and tolerant citizens. A remarkable 35% of Blue Oak School families receive financial assistance, twice the national average for independent schools. It is one of the elements that make Blue Oak School exceptional; and without the dollars raised at the annual auction, it would not be possible.
The participation of everyone in the Blue Oak School community, as well as those in the broader community, is integral to the success of Beneath the Canopy each year. There are many ways to get involved – as a volunteer, donor, sponsor or bidder – and we encourage everyone to consider how they can best contribute to this important fundraiser.
