Introducing Hal Hensler - Head of Blue Oak School

Posted December 10, 2009

After a year of due diligence and serious consideration, the Blue Oak School Board of Trustees is delighted to announce the appointment of Hal Hensler, Interim Head of School, to the position of permanent Head of School.

Hal joined Blue Oak School in September 2006 as the 7th/8th grade math teacher as well as an administrator and was appointed Middle School Head shortly thereafter. Since the departure of Scott Duyan in June of 2009, Hal has been both the Interim Head of School and a candidate for the Head of School position.

During this time, Hal has been the consummate professional, capably stewarding the school’s mission, students, families, faculty and staff. The Board and I have great confidence in Hal’s abilities and character, and look forward to continuing to support the important work he has begun.

Chaired by Wendi Moore, the Head Search Committee has successfully completed a complex eight-month search process. The Board is sincerely grateful to the Committee for its countless hours and thoughtful deliberations.

Parents, faculty and staff are invited to join the Board and the Head Search Committee for a Q & A Forum at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 15, in the Lower School MPR. This forum will provide attendees the opportunity to ask questions of and offer input to the Head Search Committee and the Board of Trustees.

Over the past eight years, Blue Oak School has grown and thrived. With this announcement we embark on a new era of long-term sustainability, renewed commitment to our mission and to the children we cherish.

Please join me in congratulating Hal on his new position!

Sincerely,

Tim Rodgers,

Chair

Blue Oak School Board of Trustees
