Blue Oak School offers an after-school program for both its students and for students from the wider community. The program has three parts:
The Neighborhood
This after-school program is for Blue Oak School students only. Supervised by an adult, Lower and Middle School students may stay after school until 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. In The Neighborhood, children are able to play with friends, have a snack and get a head start on homework. The Neighborhood is designed for parents who are not able to pick up their children at the close of the school day.
After-School Classes
Blue Oak School offers after-school classes for both Blue Oak School students and non-BOS students in grades K-8. Designed to extend meaningful learning opportunities, the after-school classes offer a wide range of subjects to allow children to explore new interests and talents.
Past courses have included academic subjects like SurferMath, Writing Without Tears and second languages; arts and music classes including Napa Valley Youth Chorus, Voices Unlimited, piano lessons and ceramics; athletics like soccer, Tae Kwon Do, yoga and gymnastics; and other interesting choices including LEGO Engineering, Science of Snacking, Frisbee Fun and Bookmaking.
Each course is comprised of 12 sessions and course offerings change each semester. Most classes meet from 3:30-4:30 pm, unless otherwise noted in the course registration materials. The cost for the After-School Classes program is on a per course basis.
Athletics
Blue Oak School has increased the number of athletic teams over the past few years through participation in the North Bay Catholic League. Teams have competed in volleyball, basketball, track and field. The establishment of teams is based each year on student interest. For more information, visit Athletics on our website.
