Drama

Drama classes at Blue Oak School are dedicated to providing an atmosphere of collaboration with an emphasis on the creative process.

Students are led through drama games and exercises that promote active listening, working in an ensemble, and public speaking. Poetry or original works are incorporated as texts to serve as a way of developing reading comprehension and tools for creating a kinesthetic response to language. Every drama session ends with an “open-workshop” style performance for friends and family, which increases self-confidence.

We believe that theatre as an art form will teach children to use their creativity to build self-esteem, express themselves, and participate in performance, which lays a foundation for personal growth and appreciation of dramatic arts.
