Blue Oak School offers a broad, integrated liberal arts curriculum for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Class sizes are small to allow for individualized attention.
In the Lower School , homeroom subjects for grades K-5 include reading, writing, spelling, handwriting, math, science, history and more. Specialist teachers provide instruction in music, art, Spanish, physical education and drama.
In the Middle School, students in grades 6-8 continue with a curriculum that includes a solid base in the fundamentals of humanities, writing, mathematics and science. Spanish, music, art, drama, physical education as well as Life Skills and a variety of electives are also part of the Middle School experience. After-school programs in athletics and choral music are available. The Blue Oak School mission supports the passage from Lower to Middle School with a gradual transition that nurtures greater academic and personal independence, whereby students increasingly take more command of their learning.
Themes running throughout the curriculum in both the Lower and Middle Schools include character education, environmental responsibility, appropriate use of technology, living in a multicultural society, service and community.
