Blue Oak School is proud to offer our students a library at both our Lower and Middle School campuses, providing them with regular access to age-appropriate reading books, research materials and other resources that encourage independent learning opportunities in a challenging and supportive environment.
The Lower School Library serves kindergarten through fifth grade students. All students visit the library weekly for literature read-aloud sessions, book talks, and browsing opportunities. Students also receive instruction about locating and evaluating resources to solve their information needs. Computers are available in the library for student use.
The Middle School Library serves students in grades six through eight.
Each Middle School student is supplied with a laptop computer and the campus is equipped with remote Internet access, so students are able to work online in the library as necessary.
The right material to the right person at the right time – that is the Blue Oak School library motto. Whether connecting readers with good books, supporting a particular curriculum unit with print or online resources, or helping students, faculty, staff or parents navigate the ever-changing information landscape, the Lower and Middle School libraries are designed to support the entire school community and nurture the skills and habits of learning that endure.
