Blue Oak School’s Middle School program reflects the commitment to meeting the unique needs of the pre-adolescent and adolescent student in grades six, seven and eight, an important time of transition in the lives of children.
Liberal Arts Curriculum and Small Classes
Each grade level offers small class size to facilitate individualized and small group instruction, a pivotal component for a successful middle school experience. Coursework focuses on the skills needed for current and future success with math, science, humanities (including language arts) and Spanish language forming the backbone of a schedule that also includes visual and performing arts, music, physical education and athletics. The social and emotional development of the Blue Oak Middle School student is a focus of the program and is supported by classes, such as Advisory and Life Skills, which explore adolescent needs. Transition to Middle School
The Blue Oak School mission supports the passage from Lower to Middle School with a gradual transition that nurtures greater academic and personal independence, whereby students increasingly take more command of their learning.
