Step 1: Fill out an Admission Inquiry Form

Step 2: Schedule a visit to Blue Oak

You may schedule an individual visit, join a group tour or attend Lower School Open House program. 

Open houses are offered outside of regular school hours. They are designed to provide a more in-depth look at progressive education, our program, and community. During this event you will hear from our Head of School, visit teachers in their classrooms, meet current parents, and hear from our students and alums.

LS Open House is scheduled for Tuesday, January 10th from 8:30 - 9:45am. Please plan to stay for the entire program

School tours are given during the school day and are an opportunity to see our classrooms in action. Tours last approximately one hour and fifteen minutes and are for adults only. Reservations are required. Please email Michele Sanchez to register for one of the following tours. Dates to follow shortly.

Step 3: Complete an application

Complete the Blue Oak Application for Admission and return it with a $75 application fee.  Applications should be received by January 16, 2017.

Step 4: Request a letter of recommendation

If your child is currently enrolled in a preschool program, request a teacher letter of recommendation from your child’s primary teacher.  A recommendation form is included in the application.

Step 5: Individual Assessment

Upon receipt of the application, the school will schedule an individual assessment with our Kindergarten teacher. Individual assessments are held after school hours on selected days beginning in November.

Step 6: Attend the Kindergarten Play Day

Our Play Day provides teachers with an opportunity to see children working and playing together in a school setting.

Step 7: (optional): Attend an Indexed Tuition Information Session

Families who wish to be considered for tuition assistance should attend an Indexed Tuition Information Session or meet personally with the Director of Admission. Families apply for Indexed Tuition through TADS, a third party provider who provides the school with a detailed analysis of each family’s current financial situation. Applying to Grades 1 - 5

Blue Oak has limited spaces available in Grades 1 - 5. Families interested in a space in these grades should schedule a personal visit to determine if there will be space available in the grade desired.

Step 4: Request a letter of recommendation and a copy of your child's school records.

Please request a teacher letter of recommendation form from your child’s primary teacher along with a copy of his/her school records.  A recommendation form is included in the application. A copy of your child's school records should also be requested and sent to the admissions office. 

Step 5: Class Visit            

Upon receipt of the application, the school will schedule a class visit for the student. Class visits are a full-day visit (8:00 – 3:00) and provide an opportunity for us to conduct a short assessment of the child’s academic strengths, while watching them interact in the classroom with their peers.

Admission is offered on a rolling basis as spaces become available. We often may not know how many spaces will be open until our current families have completed the re-enrollment process in March.
